Diaper Bag Essentials

Or should we say, mom’s new purse. I don’t know about you mama’s, but its my new purse as well. I use to never, ever go anywhere without my purse, so at first it was weird, but I didn’t want to be carrying more then I needed to. A baby in a car seat, a diaper bag, blankets, and having to open doors and all that jazz was enough for mama. So, this became not only for baby but for mama too. How many mama’s agree? As moms we all know how essential having a diaper bag is. If you go somewhere and end not having something if baby were to have a blowout, got hungry, or just needed a toy to keep him/her occupied we would be in not such good shape.

So I am going to let you all in on what I keep in our diaper bag/purse!

First thing is, we purchased our diaper bag at Walmart. It was affordable, we love it, and it does what it needs to do.

Diaper bag 11

Has seven pockets total. So let’s start with what I put in each of the pockets.

Front pockets: side with the flap is where we put our Purell Hand Sanitizer, Hylands Teething Tablets, and a comb.

Side with the Tiger on it is where we have any coupons we may have for the month and some pens.

Side pockets: we use for bottles and sometimes our water bottles.

Back pocket: we use for odds and ends. There was nothing in it at this time. 🙂

Here’s the inside view of everything in it. Let’s start of with the side pocket inside.

It has a connected little bag inside that I love, it holds all the travel stuff. Travel size Johnson & Johnson Shampoo, Johnson & Johnson Wash, Johnson & Johnson Lotion, Aquaphor Diaper Rash Cream, small container holding a pacifier and refills for his NoseFrida, changing pad, 2 snack bag ziplocs one with syringes and any meds he may need, other one has a wipeable bib and a spoon, then we have disposable stick on placemats for restaurants, and last thing’s just some teething toys just in case needed.

Then comes the zipped pocket that is more secured. So that means its mommy’s side. This is where I put my mommy essentials.

diaper bag 4

My wallet of course, has my ID, cards, cash, appointment cards, rewards cards, stuff of that sort and then of course just in case I always have these tampons in there, nobody will see and they won’t fall out because like I said its zipped and secured.

Next is where most everything goes in the biggest area in the diaper bag.

diaper bag 9

Here we have Pampers Sensitive Wipes, Pampers size 4 diapers, formula dispenser, snack container (crunchies, puffs, yogurt melts) clear bag of toys & soft books, the toys bag especially comes in handy at church, so we make sure most toys are not loud ones, then we have a receiving blanket that is in there at all times, change of clothes. Most times we have an outfit in case it’s cold and one in case it’s hot. We live in Nebraska and weather can change in a second. Haha, have to be prepared.

There you have it. That is most everything we carry in our diaper bag/purse. And if we go long distance it’s more extended then just this but we’ll get into that in a Traveling series. So keep an eye out for that.

Hope you enjoyed what you saw and hopefully it helped you get your diaper bag organized and ready.

Comment below what essentials you like to carry in your diaper bag. Would love to know in case I want to stuff it in ours.

You sound so prepared! I remember when my sister had her first little one she was so unprepared, it took a whole lot of trial and error for her to figure out what Mama and Baby both need!

O man took awhile for me to know what we all needed. He is now 10 months old and took awhile to know, Ok Valarie you didn’t have this last time and you were in a pickle so pack it next time and every time after that. lol But now I can say with confidence that most times when we’re out and need something that we have it and it’s all good! 🙂

This is awesome, I am pregnant with my third and at this point I just take a couple diapers, wipes, and a nursing cover and we always keep spare outfits in the car in case of an pee accident for our eldest and a dreaded blow out with the current youngest. Plus I am pretty sure my purse is the Mary Poppin’s bag but with food, so many snacks!

Haha right! Sometimes my husband thinks I pack the whole house before we leave. My theory is better safe then sorry. And with everything in here I can say with confidence that I always feel prepared for the unexpected! I bet you are super mom with 2 kids and one on the way. That’s awesome! Haha how true is that Mary Poppin’s bag lol nothing wrong with that, that women had everything you needed! haha

Super cute diaper bag! It’s been a while since I needed to use a diaper bag, but my giant purse kind of acts like a child bag, as in I carry a lot of stuff around for my daughter and I lol! Snacks, books, toys and candy lol!
